In late July I was called by L’Optimum to take some portraits of stylist Phillip Plein for an upcoming feature on his thriving brand. We traveled to Lugano, less than an hour away from Milan, to meet him at the new brand’s headquarter, which at the time was still under construction. After trying out different setups, mostly on a seamless background, seeing they didn’t feel right, I decided to photograph him in one of the most complete areas, simply sitting at a desk.
