For the same February issue of Wired Magazine, I had the pleasure of meeting Jacopo Pantaleoni. Quite a surreal encounter, Jacopo is a scientist, a researcher. Although he doesn’t quite look like the stereotypical one. In 2009, after bouncing between Italy and the US, he designs Pantaray, a software used to create the intricate scenes of the movie Avatar.
The interesting article written by Riccardo Meggiato also reveals the application of Jacopo’s technology in science, used for a fast alignment of DNA.
Many thanks to Paolo Orsacchini for providing the location the day after Christmas – when no one would rent a studio.
Below the published portrait and some outtakes.
